                Technical Writer/ Senior Technical Writer

Responsibilities

• Develop technical manuals using customer source data in accordance with ATA specifications.
• Author technical changes into a variety of flight-line level aircraft maintenance manuals.
• Analyze incoming data, including a variety of engineering drawings, Acceptance Test procedures, and Engineering Orders, to incorporate into customer manuals.
• Enter Change Requests into workflow management software.
• Coordinate all phases of the procedure, from source data, organizing and interpreting content, and ordering art.
• Contribute to the overall technical publication development process flow.
• Assist with technical and quality review of final outputs.
• Work closely with project management and planning to meet deliverable schedules.
• Provide on-site support at customer locations.

Education And Experience

• Associate degree in technical/electronics, avionics background or equivalent years of experience/training
• 2 years to 8 years’ experience with Aerospace technical publications
• Experience authoring airline maintenance or other aerospace maintenance technical data or Flight Operations technical data (commercial and/or military).
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with engineering source documents.
• Demonstrated proficiency in SGML/XML applications:

• Experience with Arbortext or other SGML applications-based desktop publishing software.
• Experience with XML authoring tools (e.g. Xmetal, Epic) and their customization tools.

Experience with airline maintenance or other aerospace maintenance technical data or Flight Operations technical data

Experience resolving conflicts between OEM revision and Airline COC

Experience authoring ATA Spec 100 and iSpec 2200 documentation

Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, engineering specifications, engineering change orders, schematics, wiring diagrams, block diagrams, and illustrated parts data.

Working knowledge of Standard Technical English, grammar and punctuation.

Working knowledge of S1000D a plus.
