SENIOR INFORMATION DEVELOPER – TECHNICAL WRITER
Responsibilities:
*Plan, research, create, develop, write, edit, and update a variety of software/hardware documentation (product descriptions; installation manuals, operation and administration manuals, user guides, API reference guides, etc.) for packet optical and network management products and network design tools.
*Produce product documentation that is clear, concise, compliant with Ciena documentation and quality assurance standards and suitable for technical and non-technical users.
*Publish customer documentation as web-based technical publications and as on-product online help.
*Work in concert with colleagues across multiple time-zones and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams that include Product Line Management, Software and Hardware Design, Product Verification, System Network Engineering, Customer Support and Marketing personnel.

Required Experience:
*5-10 years writing experience in the telecommunications or technical arena, with preferably a minimum of 2 years in the telecommunications arena
*Experience with the packet optical/data hardware and provisioning/network management aspects of telecommunications equipment/networks
*Expert proficiency with Adobe FrameMaker (Structured/XML)
*Experience with DITA
*Experience with CMS and CCMS document management systems
*Experience interworking with XML software development environments
*Experience with Agile development processes, including customer documentation development in an Agile environment
*Working proficiency with Asciidoctor and publishing using Gitbook
*Working proficiency with MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint
*Working proficiency with Visio, Illustrator, CorelDraw, and/or other CAD vector-based graphics creation and editing applications.
