PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
This is a hands-on position with exciting global exposure to an array of topics like Free and Open Source Software (FOSS), license compliance, export compliance, software security management, software release cycles, and production processes. Specifically, in support of our team and corporate transformations, the candidate will lead our effort to effectively document and broadly communicate the processes and initiatives under the Technology Legal Compliance team’s governance.

The Communication Specialist position is best suited for candidates who are familiar with software development, open source and have a desire to create written and visual content for a global team. Candidate with strong technical writing, graphic designing and or documentation skills will excel in this position. This role requires working collaboratively with a global team of compliance specialists, admins and across teams such as development, project/program management.
This position is part of the Global Technology Legal Compliance (GTLC) team, whose initiative is to ensure SAP technology and products comply with standards imposed by legal requirements such as trade regulations and software licensing laws. The candidate will assist communicate Technology Legal Compliance related topics, processes and procedure to development teams in formats such as wiki pages, portal pages, email templates, process diagrams, comics, visual graphics, and videos. The candidate will gain hands on experience with how to effectively communicate technical content to both technical and non-technical audiences.
This candidate should possess a detail oriented, disciplined mindset with superb oral and written communication skills. Ability to work with minimal supervision and self-motivation is an asset. Candidate should thrive for achieving the highest quality of work in a fast-paced environment. Relevant training will be provided for the candidate.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
  • Interview legal compliance, licensing, and engineering personnel to become familiar with existing compliance and development technologies and SAP software production methods.
  • Edit, standardize, or make changes to existing material prepared by other writers or establishment personnel.
  • Review published content and recommend/execute revisions or changes in scope, format, etc. to make such materials broadly consumable by both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Study technical drawings, process workflow illustrations, internal procedure documents, etc. - integrate these findings in an end-user friendly manner and broadcast this information across SAP development teams worldwide
  • Create beautiful, easy to understand content for companywide publication

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Education:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in mass communication, Journalism, graphic design, or equivalent. A solid understanding of computer science and software programming is highly recommended.
General Skills:
  • Thorough understanding of technical writing and communication concepts
  • Ability to create content in the form of easy to consume, highly reusable modules
  • Expert level proficiency with common text editing, page layout and graphic design software
  • Exceptional communication and live interview techniques
  • Familiar with Enterprise level Communication Tools

WORK EXPERIENCE
  • 3-4 years of experience in a Communication Specialist role in a ITES domain.
