As an Overhaul Services Engineer you will facilitate detailed reviews of the service-run engine hardware to ensure that the technical standard of the engines is maintained at lowest cost. Your work will enable products to meet the project and business requirements for service attributes including safety, reliability, maintenance costs and maintenance burden.

Overhaul Services Engineering is a global technical support organization, created to focus on initiative, innovation and teamwork to ensure safe, reliable and cost effective engine repair and overhaul in support of the Overhaul Service Line and the maintenance service providers.
Overhaul Services Engineering is one of the key function of the Engineering for Services (EfS) in Rolls-Royce Civil Aerospace. Our teams support the Large Engine Projects offering a blend of cross component and sub-subsystem specialization accountabilities (e.g. turbines, compressors, oils and transmissions). Our aim is to provide cradle to grave optimized Service support to Engine Programmes ranging from New Product Introduction (NPI) to sunset engines that are heading for retirement.
Key Accountabilities
- A working knowledge of engineering principles and ability to interpret drawings, design schemes and other technical data.
- The ability to undertake a range of authoring/illustrating tasks with minimum supervision.
- The ability to plan, manage and control complex technical data for inclusion into data sets within the required timescales and in the most cost effective way.
- Maturity of judgement to assess the validity and adequacy of source technical data from a variety of sources and to question specialists on any apparent discrepancies
- Prepare work package(s)/task(s) for other Technical Data Services staff and/or sub-contract.
- Liaise with the customer to provide technical support on engine operation, maintenance and repair or technical queries.
- Author, develop and/ or approve technical documentation to support the engine programs and meet the design and regulatory requirements.
- Identify and improve interface management information, tools and techniques between RRB, Derby teams and engine project teams.
- Work closely with other Rolls-Royce functions and customers to identify cost reduction projects and design change based on service experience and maintainability / customer requirements.
- Plan, manage and control a work package(s)/task(s) within the required timescale using the most cost effective method.
- Provide direct support to the MRO Organisation for the Fix the Fleet Campaign
- Reduce and/or avoid operational TV burden (for ad-hoc methods) through establishment of methods either within the Engine Manual or through Non-Modification Service Bulletins
Qualifications & Experience
- BE (Mechanical) AME or Diploma in Mech Engg with 4-16 years of experience
- You will have good technical engine knowledge.
- You will have strong planning and organizing skills to be able deliver significant tasks to programmes.
- You will be result driven to be able to work with minimal supervision.
- You will have a high level of IT literacy and a customer focus.
- You will have good communication skills to be able to cooperate at all levels of the business with internal and external parties.
- You will be able to manage multiple tasks and to make accurate and considered technical decisions under pressure.
- You will have a good working knowledge of Lean principles to both optimize shop practices but also the Service Cost initiative delivery process.
